Last evening's burning continued well into the morning hours. We may have a few hours of fresh air until the yard waste burning starts then the wood smoke nightmare starts all over again. Tonight will be a smoky hell as Saturdays always are.
1:00 AM: Light to moderate smoldering wood smoke continues. There is no breeze to push the smoke away. It blankets the area. No chance to open the windows yet.
3:15 AM: Light to moderate wood smoke continues. Still can't open the windows and get some air in the house.
5:00 AM: A faint to light smoldering smokiness lingers in the air. The windows cannot be opened yet.
7:00 AM: The air is mostly clear. Finally we can open the windows! NORTH SAINT PAUL SUCKS! HORRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE!
As usual, it was a smoky night in North St. Paul. It wasn't as smoky as last night. But it was too smoky to sit outside or open the windows. Prisoners in our own home once again. I did not notice any yard waste burning today. I was in and out much of the afternoon and may have missed it.
6:00 PM: No smoke yet. 68 degrees, cloudy.
7:00 PM: A faint wood smoke was in the air for a few minutes. The breeze must have shifted.
8:00 PM: Light to moderate wood smoke at this time. It's pretty smoky outside.
8:40 PM: A very faint trace of wood smoke is in the air now.
9:00 PM: Faint wood smoke.
9:40 PM: Light wood smoke.
10:00 PM: Light wood smoke. I walked down the street upwind toward the source of the smoke. Nobody on our block is burning. I don't know where it is coming from. It could be another block away or even farther than that.
10:45 PM: Light wood smoke.
11:20 PM: Very faint wood smoke.
Midnight: The air is mostly clear but a trace of smoke lingers. The air is not fresh at this time. We cannot risk opening the windows tonight. Somebody could start a late bonfire or the wind may shift filling the house with smoky air.
There was no more smoke tonight. I woke a few times before sunrise and the air was mostly clear each time. The air was clear when we woke except for a trace of a burnt wood odor. It was barely noticeable, not enough to prevent the windows from being opened to let in the cool morning air.
