Sunday 12/05/2010 Air Pollution
7:00 AM: No smoke. Fresh air. If fireplaces are used for home heating, why is smoky air in the morning so uncommon even on weekends? Most people are home Sunday morning. But they are not using fireplaces or wood stoves. How are they heating their homes? 5 degrees at this time. The colder it gets the less fireplace use there is. This is not what one would expect during the cold months, but in North St. Paul, MN, spring, summer, and fall are much smokier than winter. If smoky air was limited to the winter months -- as it used to be -- I could live with it. But it isn't. This city is hell on earth.
