Exposure to air pollution while pregnant can lead to lower IQ in children, so says a Time article about the effects of environmental pollution on the developing brains of children.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are found in high concentrations in wood smoke. Our city council members are poisoning the children of the city.
